BIOFACH and VIVANESS 2023: Towards an ecological transformation

Many urgent questions currently accompany the organic sector: What contribution does organic make to food security and sovereignty? How can "true prices", i.e. prices that include the consequential ecological costs, pave the way for implementing the necessary transformation of the food and nutrition industry? The BIOFACH, Congress will be held under the central theme "Bio. Food Sovereignty. True Prices." It offers a global knowledge platform for transformation when the world's leading trade fair for organic food opens its doors in Nuremberg from 14 to 17 February 2023.

Like the last time in 2020, the international organic sector will again meet in February at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre.

"We are already looking forward to gathering the organic food and natural cosmetics community again on site in Nuremberg and providing a framework for innovation and transformation, impulses and networking," says Danila Brunner, Head of BIOFACH and VIVANESS. "Especially in this day and age, it is more important than ever to exchange ideas in person and to sit down together to discuss and look ahead to pave the way for future topics. Paving the Path together!"

With 2,500 exhibitors at Biofach and around 200 at VIVANESS, the number of exhibitors will again be larger than at the one-off Summer Edition in July 2022.


On-site trade fairs with digital plus

As at the one-off Summer Edition in 2022, all participants will have the opportunity to view parts of BIOFACH and the VIVANESS Congress via the digital platform in a live stream. Afterwards, these will be available as video-on-demand. Further information can be found at www.biofach.de/kongress and www.vivaness.de/kongress.

The VIVANESS Congress with its comprehensive programme and diverse sessions will again offer the opportunity for discussion, exchange and knowledge transfer. The various congress forums will focus on future topics.



Future and trend themes will also be reflected in the exhibition halls in a variety of ways - whether through the lively exchange between the community or at the product level.

The specialist trade forum in Hall 9, for example, will specifically address the questions that are currently affecting the specialist trade. How can they hold their own in the field of tension between food retailers and discounters? What are the industry's answers to the increasingly important factors of regionality and supply chains? What are the future-oriented unique selling propositions? These and other questions will be addressed by impulse-givers. In the transformation to more organic in the supermarket, independent traders will find the Meeting Point BIO in the SEH from bioPress Verlag for the first time at BIOFACH 2023, where they will meet experts in the procurement of organic full-range products.

The future of nutrition will also be discussed at the Meeting Point Initiatives & NGOs. Here, industry participants, young as well as established organic companies, meet to look ahead, network, exchange views on political issues, share ideas and discuss research.

Anyone who wants to gain a foothold in the organic sector, or who wants to train or further their education, will find answers at the Generation Future meeting point, which is being organised together with Kugler & Rosenberger. In addition, the BioThesis research prize will again be awarded, which aims to inspire young people for the organic sector and to support them.

Will Federal Minister of Agriculture Cem Özdemir open BIOFACH 2023 again?


Organic, plant-based nutrition is becoming increasingly important. Attendees can see, smell and taste the variety of products from exhibitors, listen to impulse lectures and watch show chefs at the VEGAN World of Experience. After many years of good cooperation with ProVeg, the Erlebniswelt VEGAN 2023 will be launched for the first time with two new partners. Together with AöL and VegOrganic, it will be filled with life and programme.

Trend themes such as zero waste or sustainable packaging will be taken up in the unpackaged section, which will be designed together with the partner Unverpackt e.V..

Trends and innovations can also be found on the respective new product stand at BIOFACH and VIVANESS. During the fair, participants will once again have the opportunity to vote for their favourite product for the Best New Product Award in seven categories.

The latest market data is always eagerly awaited.


Innovations, ideas and creative minds can also be found on the two sponsored joint stands for young innovative companies. Here you can discover and enjoy product innovations from the organic and natural cosmetics start-ups. International start-ups can be found at the VIVANESS special area Breeze.
